Angular Contact Ball Bearing

Angular contact ball bearings are suitable for bearing both radial and axial loads. It can also be used to bear pure axial load and can work at high speed. The axial load of this type of bearing varies with the size of the contact Angle. The larger the contact Angle is, the greater the bearing can bear axial load.

Angular ball bearings are also called angular contact radial thrust ball bearings. This type of bearing is particularly suitable for carrying combined loads (radial and axial load) as well as pure axial loads and can be operated at relatively high speeds. The axial load carrying capacity of angular contact ball bearings changes along with dimensions of contact angle. The larger the contact angle, the better the axial load carrying capacity is. The contact angle α is defined as the angle between the line joining the contact points of the ball and the raceways in the radial plane, along which the load is transmitted from one raceway to another and a line perpendicular to the bearing axis. The allowable angle error of a single row contact ball bearing is limited. The angle errors of inner ring and outer ring are dependent on radial clearance, bearing dimension, internal structure, and the force or moment acting on bearings.

Bearing design for angular contact bearings can be one directional thrust, double direction thrust, double row, double row maximum capacity angular, duplex thrust, and four-pointed contact.  Thin-section bearings have small cross-sections with respect to their diameter.   There are specially designed bearings for applications of ball screw support or lead screw. . Some bearings may also be flanged.  Angular contact bearings may have a variety of lubrication options.  They can be relubricatable, prelubricated, and grease lubrication.

Structure And Characteristics

Single Row Angular Contact Ball Bearing

Single row angular contact ball bearing, can withstand radial load and unidirectional axial load. The ball has an Angle of contact of 15°, 25° or 40° with the inner and outer rings. The larger the contact Angle is, the greater the axial load bearing capacity is.The smaller the contact Angle, the more conducive to high speed rotation.

Single Row Angular Installed In Pairs

Single row angular contact ball bearings are available in pairs or multiple (triple, quadruple, or multiple combination) configurations.

Paired angular contact ball bearings provide a predetermined internal clearance and preloading, as well as a uniform load distribution, when mounted close to each other. Paired angular contact ball bearings are mainly used when the load bearing capacity of a single angular contact ball bearing is insufficient, or when bearing combined axial (diameter) loads, and axial loads in two directions. Paired angular contact ball bearings are available in back-to-back, face to face and tandem configurations.

Double Row Angular Contact Ball Bearing

Double-row angular contact ball bearings have good rigidity, can withstand the bidirectional axial load, but also can withstand a certain overturning moment; its use effect is similar to back-to-back configuration and two single-row angular contact ball bearings. A double row angular contact ball bearing consists of an outer ring and an inner ring (or two inner rings).

Three (Four) Point Contact Ball Bearings

Three (four) point contact ball bearings are single row angular contact ball bearings with double half inner ring or double half outer ring and belong to separable structure. The bearing can withstand two-way axial load and limit axial displacement in both directions. Because of the double half inner ring (or outer ring), this kind of bearing is loaded with more steel balls, so it has a larger bearing capacity.

Application

Single Row Angular Contact Ball Bearing:

Machine spindle, high frequency motor, gas turbine, centrifuge, small car front wheel, differential pinion shaft

Double Row Angular Contact Ball Bearing:

Oil pump, fan, air compressor, all kinds of transmission, fuel injection pump, and printing machinery.
